A new year brings new opportunities to the City of Champions, and while we're psyched to see what the future holds, we can't help but looking back at the past and longing for a few of the special places we've lost over the years. These are the five Tuscaloosa restaurants that need to make a comeback in 2020.

1. Chuy's

I am NOT over losing Chuy's. The Tex-Mex spot abruptly closed in November, leaving me nowhere to get my creamy jalapeno sauce fix. This must be rectified in 2020.

2. Cafe Venice

Do y'all remember this place? It was on University downtown in the old Fuzzy's Taco Shop spot. They had great food, but most importantly: they had HALF PRICE WINE AND PIZZA NIGHT. I need this in my life ASAP.

3. Fuzzy's Taco Shop

Speaking of Fuzzy's, I wish they'd come back to Tuscaloosa. I miss their super cheap meal deals, and the fact that I could get guac delivered to my house was not lost on me.

4. Momma Goldberg's Deli

I miss Momma G's. I was addicted to their nachos. I know it was just Monterrey Jack cheese melted on Doritos, but it slapped.

5. Edelweiss

I miss Edelweiss SO MUCH. Your girl LIVED for the $5 Andy's Special of a juicy brat, bowl of sauerkraut, and a soft pretzel. It was my JAM. The pastries at Edelweiss were better than anything you'd find in town, and I still have dreams about a warm apple strudel with fresh whipped cream.

That's the top five, y'all. I'd also like to see Catfish Cabin or Ezell's come back to Tuscaloosa, and I still miss The Cotton Patch. What do we need to do to make this happen?
