Alabama Lands 4-Star Center; Oats Hauling in a Top-5 Class
Alabama head basketball coach Nate Oats just led the Crimson Tide to one of its best basketball seasons in program history. Oats and his staff are already onto year three as the focus turns to 2021 roster management. Alabama received a commitment from 6-foot-11 forward Charles Bediako out of IMG Academy, elevating Alabama's 2021 recruiting class to No. 3 in the nation according to 247 Sports.
He chose Alabama over Duke, Michigan, Ohio State and Texas.
Bediako continues the Canada-to-Tuscaloosa pipeline as he follows Josh Primo and Keon Ambrose-Hylton to the Capstone. He is the No. 4 ranked center and the No. 26 ranked prospect in the class according to 247Sports.
Bediako gives Alabama four players in the 2021 recruiting class. 5-star prospect JD Davison highlights the class along with 4-star Jusaun Holt and JUCO Langston Wilson.
The center's addition officially fills the Crimson Tide's roster for the 2021 season, should Oats be inclined to add another player or prospect someone would need to leave Alabama by way of the transfer portal.
Bediako will come in and look to make an immediate impact in the Alabama frontcourt with the departures of Jordan Bruner and Herb Jones. He will compete with Alex Tchikou, Ambrose-Hylton and Juwaun Gary for playing time this fall.
