For the second time this week the Alabama Crimson Tide has a running back enter the transfer portal. According to's Matt Zenitz, sophomore running back Kyle Edwards has entered the transfer portal.

Edwards was a 3-star recruit in the class of 2020, according to the 247Sports Composite, out of Destrehan High School in Destrehan, LA. He was the No. 19 recruit in the state of Louisiana and chose to come to Alabama over LSU, Michigan and Penn State.

The Crimson Tide should still be in strong shape in the running back room even if Edwards were to find a new school. Alabama expects to have senior Brian Robinson and sophomores Jase McClellan, Roydell Williams and Trey Sanders as well as incoming freshman Camar Wheaton.

The NCAA recently announced a change to the transfer portal. Athletes may now transfer one-time without having to sit out of competition for a year. The SEC followed the announcement by complying with the NCAA's decision, allowing athletes to use their one-time transfer within the conference.

Alabama has lost 10 players to the transfer portal in the 2021 offseason. Conversely the Tide has brought in three players by way of the transfer portal in former Tennessee linebacker Henry To'o To'o, Ohio State wide receiver Jameson Williams and Troy punter Jack Martin.
