Music of Henry Mancini Coming to Bama Theatre

You may not immediately recognize the name Henry Mancini, but there’s a good chance you’ve heard his music.

Some of the most recognizable sounds from classic television and movies will fill the Historic Bama Theatre when Jukebox Saturday Night presents “Music of Mancini” on Friday, Oct. 16, at 7 p.m.

The performance is part of the Arts Council of Tuscaloosa’s 2026-27 TuscArts OnStage series and will celebrate the career of legendary composer Henry Mancini.

Audiences can expect favorites including “The Pink Panther Theme,” “Moon River,” “Baby Elephant Walk,” “Days of Wine and Roses,” “Charade,” “Too Little Time” and “The Sweetheart Tree.”

The show will go beyond simply performing Mancini’s music. Narration throughout the evening will tell the story of his journey from growing up in Pittsburgh to becoming one of Hollywood’s most celebrated composers.

Mancini’s career included early work connected to the Glenn Miller Orchestra and music featured in “The Glenn Miller Story” before his compositions became fixtures of television and film.

Jukebox Saturday Night is managed by Glenn Miller Productions Inc., which has managed the World Famous Glenn Miller Orchestra for more than 60 years.

The performance will take place at the Historic Bama Theatre, located at 600 Greensboro Avenue in downtown Tuscaloosa.
