Alabama alum and former Crimson Tide walk-on basketball player Britton Johnson announced via social media on Friday morning his intentions to continue his college basketball career with the Samford Bulldogs.

Johnson, a four-year player for the Crimson Tide, will reunite with his high school head coach Bucky McMillan. Johnson played in 29 career games for the Crimson Tide, he scored 14 career points with 12 rebounds a block and a steal. Most notably the walk-on was utilized by head coach Nate Oats in 2021 off the bench to motivate the scholarship athletes.

Johnson will have one more year of eligibility left to make his mark on the Bulldogs program. In 2021 Samford finished 21-11 with a 10-8 SOCON record, good enough for a third place finish in conference. The Bulldogs were eliminated in the SOCON semi-finals by Furman to end the season.
