The holidays are quickly approaching, and if nothing else we know this time of year to be filled with warmth, gratefulness, good cheer, and food!

Many families see financial strain throughout the year, while some incur extraordinary circumstances close to the holidays that make providing a hot meal an awesome task.

For those in need of food assistance, an opportunity to receive help is coming this Saturday.

Gordo’s New Home Missionary Baptist Church has partnered with the Bridge Builder Foundation to provide food boxes as part of community outreach on Saturday, October 31.  The event will begin at 1 p.m. and will last until all boxes are gone.

Churches have long been community anchors, one of the few places where families have felt they could receive assistance without judgment; but it’s a wonderful occurrence when the church offers support to its community without being asked.

The collaboration between the church and the Bridge Builder Friendship Foundation Inc. is one of perfection as the Bridge Builder Friendship Foundation has a long-time record of service in the community. The non-profit organization was established to help promote educational awareness, mentorship, and provide available resources to deserving communities.

The Bridge Builder Friendship Foundation Inc. supports numerous programs designed to encourage area youth in the areas of leadership, academic achievement, self-awareness, social awareness, health awareness, and volunteerism through various community services projects.

So, it comes as no surprise that the Bridge Builder Foundation is providing manpower behind this food giveaway.

Because this event is on a first-come first-served basis, it is advised that those who would like to be recipients arrive at the beginning.
