Buffalo Phil’s Mourns Two Employees Killed

Buffalo Phil's has released a heartfelt statement following the deaths of two of its employees, Jose Felix Alvarez-Duenas and Jazmine Bates, who were killed in the Brookwood double homicide this week.

Authorities say both victims were found inside a home on Alabama Junction Road Monday, and a suspect has since been arrested in the case.

In a social media post, the Tuscaloosa restaurant described Felix and Jazmine as more than coworkers, saying they were "family" whose kindness, dedication and joy left a lasting impact on everyone they worked with.

The restaurant shared that Felix was a devoted single father of three children who worked tirelessly to provide for his family. The restaurant also remembered 22-year-old Jazmine as a University of Alabama student from Chicago who was nearing graduation and was known for her bubbly personality, welcoming smile and bright future.

"You will always be a part of our family. We will carry your memories with us every day, and you will never be forgotten," Buffalo Phil's said in a post on social media.

Buffalo Phil's said its thoughts are with Felix's three children, both victims' families, friends and fellow employees as they grieve. The restaurant also asked the community to respect the families' privacy and said it would not comment further while the investigation continues.

The statement ended by thanking Felix and Jazmine for the laughter, hard work, kindness and memories they shared, saying they will always remain part of the Buffalo Phil's family.
