TCS Looks to Hire ‘The Best’ Coaches at Bryant and Central High School
The Tuscaloosa City Schools announced Thursday morning the district is looking to make hire rockstar football coaches at both Central and Bryant High School.
The announcement came following the resignation of Central High's coach, Rodney Bivens, which was reported Monday. The school district also announced Eldrick Hill, Paul W. Bryant's head coach since 2014, is no longer in the role.
The district said both schools are Class 6A ranking after Central moved up a class this season. Bryant finished the 2022 season 1-9 while Central finished 2-8.

Maurice Heard, coordinator of athletics for TCS said the vacancies will allow new coaches the opportunity to make a good impact on the district's athletes.
"This is an opportunity for the Tuscaloosa City Schools to identify and recruit two of the best high school coaches in the region, people who are experts in their field, who communicate well and want to build powerhouse programs and make a real, positive impact on their athletes," Heard said.
Central High School's principal, Teresha Jones, said Central's alumni and community are "willing and ready to serve and support our football program."
"We are excited about the opportunity to seek out a coach who will be an amazing asset to our football program, student-athletes, school, and community," Jones said.
Lydia Edwards, Bryant's principal, said hopes the new opportunity can allow new athletes the opportunity to play together throughout their high school years.
"We want athletes to join our program and play together all four years of high school," Edwards said. "I hope that this search will find a dynamic head football coach who can take our program to the next level."
The positions are currently posted on the district's job board, both offering competitive pay with playoff incentives and other resources available, including a strength and conditioning coach on staff for both teams.
