City of Tuscaloosa Asks Residents, Businesses to Practice Voluntary Social Distancing to Prevent the Spread of COVID-19

The City of Tuscaloosa is asking its residents and businesses to do their part in preventing the spread of COVID-19.

Residents are asked to practice voluntary social distancing, and businesses are encouraged to limit patrons to 50 or less, according to an official press release:

"In cities across the world, leaders are looking for ways to mitigate the spread of COVID-19, and social distancing has been found to be one of the most effective methods of successfully accomplishing this goal. In an effort to be forward-leaning and to take a proactive step toward the prevention of the spread of this novel coronavirus in Tuscaloosa, the City is strongly encouraging local businesses to voluntarily assist in the reduction of hazards by limiting the number of patrons in establishments to no more than 50 and to maintain the six-foot personal space barrier as advised by the CDC."

As of 6:30 p.m. Sunday, March 15, there were three confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Tuscaloosa County.
