Cold and Windy Today

Tuesday, November 12th Weather Outlook

Currently, we are under a Freeze Warning until Wednesday at 10 am and a Wind Advisory until 5 pm today.  Today, you can expect cloudy conditions until the mid-day with a gradual clearing with a high near 38.  Also, it will be breezy, and wind gusts could get as high as 30 mph.  There is still a slight potential for sleet and freezing rain, but no impacts are expected.  In other words, it will be cold and windy today.  Tonight it is even colder with a low around 21 with clear skies.

This week the National Weather Service hosts “Winter Weather Awareness Week 2019.” They have great resources to explain the difference between rain, freezing rain, sleet, and snow.  Also, explaining the difference between Winter Weather Advisory, Winter Storm Watch, Winter Storm Warning, and Ice Storm Warning.   They also review the health hazards, safety & preparedness, and past winter events.

And in honor of “Winter Weather Awareness Week,” I would like to suggest that you go ahead and get prepared and it's easy to do with Amazon.  I have this windshield ice-scraper or you might want to get fancy and have one with the brush on the end.  I just don’t want to see you out there using your credit card to scrape the ice off your windshield.  (I know from experience lol).
