Free Clothing Closet to Help Families in Need This Saturday

Families in need of clothing will have an opportunity to receive free items this weekend as First African Baptist Church opens its community clothing closet on Saturday.

The giveaway will take place from 10 a.m. until noon at First African Baptist Church, located at 2621 Stillman Blvd. Organizers say gently used clothing and shoes will be available for infants, toddlers, children, men and women, with sizes for boys and girls as well.

Everything is free, and each family or individual will be allowed to take up to two bags of clothing while supplies last.

Church leaders say the clothing closet is designed to be a blessing for those who are truly in need. They are also asking community members to respect the purpose of the ministry by not taking items to resell, noting that the giveaway is intended to help families facing financial hardship.

Donations of gently used clothing are also being accepted to help keep the ministry going and serve even more people in the community.
