I think you all can relate to this.

You know how it is. All day long you have your taste buds fixed to have a certain something you have been wanting. Now for me, this desire hit right after I had hand surgery. Once I was able to get moving around I didn’t have a taste for much of anything except for one thing.

I haven’t had this particular item in a while because I’ve been doing really good on my wellness journey. But this one day, after the doom and gloom of surgery, I just needed that one comfort food.

Everyone has a different take on comfort foods. For some, it’s your Mom’s mac and cheese. Or it could be a grilled cheese sandwich and a bowl of piping hot tomato soup. A couple of slices of a pizza might do the trick. Maybe it’s a big ole’ slice of red velvet cake.

For me, the ideal comfort food [you know that one dish that makes you feel better]

It’s like a blanket for your soul. For me, it is the ...

Whataburger Mushroom Swiss Burger

This particular day was a rough one. I know it’s wrong to associate happiness with food. But, give me a break, I just had hand surgery and I was in my feelings.

I made my way to the Tuscaloosa Whataburger and pulled up to the drive-thru without looking at the menu board. I ordered loudly and proudly, “Yes, I’ll have the Mushroom Swiss Burger combo with light lemonade with light ice and two spicy ketchups.”

The really sweet woman taking my order kindly responded “I’m so sorry, that is no longer available.” I said, "what the lemonade?" [I would have been ok with that] She said, "no honey, the burger." She said it in a way that she could tell I was about to be in real pain.

I was stunned.

My favorite burger was gone.

And people have the nerve to wonder why I have trust issues.

Dear Tuscaloosa Whataburgers, how yah gonna do me like that?

I made another choice and trust me it was good but nothing compares to the magical mushroom swiss burger from Whataburger.

Apparently, I’m not the only one suffering from burger separation.
