Domestic Violence Draws SWAT Team to Tuscaloosa Apartments
The Tuscaloosa Police Department's Special Response Team was deployed to Riverfront Village Apartments on Jack Warner Parkway Sunday morning when a man accused of domestic violence barricaded himself inside a room there, officials have confirmed.
Lt. Teena Richardson, a TPD spokeswoman, said officers were called to the apartment complex to respond to reports of domestic violence.
A woman there told police that her estranged husband, 32-year-old Dustin Blake Sealy had attached her Saturday night and then refused to leave her residence Sunday morning.
Richardson said officers attempted to get Sealy to come to the door and interact with them, but he refused and barricaded himself inside.
The heavily armed SRT team was deployed to the scene, and shortly afterwards Sealy opened the door and was grabbed by officers who pulled him outside and arrested him.
Sealy was briefly treated at the Northport Medical Center for minor cuts and abrasions he received during his struggle with police, then was booked in the Tuscaloosa County Jail on charges of second-degree domestic violence strangulation and third-degree domestic violence assault. Richardson said Sealy will be held without bond.
