Cincinnati Bengals rookie kicker Evan McPherson decided to stay on the field during Sunday's Super Bowl to watch the halftime show, despite being down 13-10 at the half.

The Super Bowl LVI halftime show featured many iconic artists from the hip-hop industry, including Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Mary J. Blige, Eminem, and Kendrick Lamar. Just after hearing the star-studded lineup for the big game, the 22-year-old Fort Payne native knew he had to get front row seats to watch it.

"I'll be super bummed if we can't at least watch it on a TV or something," McPherson said in an interview with TMZ days before the game. "I hope I get to watch it... I hope I get to be out there to experience it."

Neither the idea of possibly being able to stay out on the field and watch the show nor watching the show itself deterred McPherson from his main job of making field goals, as he made a 29-yard field goal in the first quarter and a 38-yard field goal in the third quarter.

The second make was McPherson's 14th made field goal in the 2022 playoffs, tying him with Adam Vinatieri for the most field goals made in a single NFL postseason. McPherson didn't get the opportunity to attempt to break the record as the Bengals' final drive of the game fell short of getting him in field goal range, and resulted in them losing to the Rams 23-20.

McPherson capped off a great rookie kicking season by going 28-for-33 in the regular season and a perfect 14-for-14 in the postseason, including game winners at Tennessee and Kansas City that sent the Bengals to their first Super Bowl since 1989.
