This group of retired men are quickly garnering attention in Tuscaloosa.
You may see a group of retired men eating at a restaurant in West Alabama sporting shirts that say ROMEO on the front.
This group of men are part of a monthly men only outing created by Brittani Henderson who serves as the Activities Director at Regency Retirement Village of Tuscaloosa. ROMEO is an acronym for Retired Old Men Eating Out.
"This idea came from our sister community in Huntsville," Henderson said.
Recently, the ROMEO group in Tuscaloosa took a trip to Hooters
"The purpose of this men only group is to get more men involved in activities. The men loved this outing, good food, reminiscing about their lives and they got an eye full lol."
Henderson decided to move forward with the activity after having quite a few men that didn't come come to activities. With the help of families and staff they encouraged them to participate.
September's restaurant for ROMEO will be voted on by the men in the group.
"In this group of men we have several Veterans that has served our country, said Henderson.
"We have Army, Navy, Air Force and Marines and they are very proud!"
Henderson said she could use volunteers with her program.
"I am always looking for volunteers to help with activities, special events and our group outings.If you see us don’t be a stranger come up and introduce yourself and have a picture with our ROMEO group!"
