Former Alabama point guard and current New Orleans Pelican Kira Lewis is showing his character in his first offseason as a professional basketball player. Lewis had a big week giving back to both his parents and his alma mater.

According to WAFF 48's Carl Prather the first year pro surprised his parents buy purchasing their dream home. Lewis surprised his parents by posing as if they were viewing the home for the final time before breaking the news that he had indeed purchased it.

The Pelican was not finished there as according to Dr. E. Quinn Headen, Lewis gave $25,000 back to his alma mater Hazel Green High School.

The New Orleans Pelicans selected Lewis with the No. 13 pick in the 2020 NBA Draft.

Lewis played in 54 games, in his first season with the Pelicans. He averaged 6.4 points per game on 16.7 minutes played, additionally he tallied 2.3 assists, 1.3 rebounds, .7 steals and .2 blocks per game as a rookie. He scored a career high 6 points and six assists against the LA Lakers on March 23.

The star from North Alabama graduated early from Hazel Green and reclassified to enroll with the Crimson Tide in 2018. As one of the youngest players in college basketball, Lewis earned SEC All-Freshman Team after averaging 13.5 points and 2.9 assists per game.

As a sophomore under first year head coach Nate Oats he earned SEC First team. He averaged 18.5 points and 5.2 assists and 4.8 rebounds as a sophomore and declared for the NBA Draft.

Lewis currently shares time with Lonzo Ball as the Pelicans point guard. He will look to improve his shooting and defense as he heads into his second year to earn more playing time.
