Backpack Giveaway Returns to Tuscaloosa Aug. 8

With Tuscaloosa County Schools set to begin classes on Monday, Aug. 10, one local business is working to help students start the school year prepared and confident.

Price Tax Services LLC will host its 3rd Annual Community Backpack & Care Essentials Giveaway on Saturday, Aug. 8, beginning at noon at 3226 Stillman Blvd. in Tuscaloosa. The event will continue until all supplies have been distributed.

Organizers say more than 200 backpacks will be available, along with personal care essentials and other school readiness items. Backpack contents may include toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap, deodorant, tissue packs, mouthwash and other hygiene products.

Families are strongly encouraged to register in advance. Organizers say pre-registration helps them prepare for the event, and registered families will receive priority while supplies last.

In addition to serving families, Price Tax Services is inviting community leaders, churches, local businesses and organizations to participate. Sponsorship and partnership opportunities are still available for those interested in supporting the event.

The goal, organizers say, is simple: to help every child walk into the classroom feeling confident, cared for and ready to learn.
