The City of Tuscaloosa Environmental Services Department and Nucor Steel Tuscaloosa are teaming up once again for the 2026 Household Hazardous Waste Disposal Day.

According to a press release sent to Townsquare Media, the free event will take place Saturday, June 6, from 8 a.m. until 11 a.m. at the Public Safety Logistics building located at Public Safety Logistics Building. Organizers noted the event will end an hour earlier than in previous years.

The event gives Tuscaloosa County residents a safe way to dispose of household materials that should not be thrown in the trash or poured down drains.

Items accepted include paint, batteries, propane tanks up to 20 pounds, antifreeze, pesticides, gasoline, household cleaners, pool chemicals, fertilizers, light bulbs, solvents and other hazardous household materials.

Officials say tires, electronics, medical waste, household garbage, radioactive waste and materials from businesses or residents outside Tuscaloosa County will not be accepted.
