Free Back-to-School Event to Give Away 500 Backpacks in Tuscaloosa

Students and families across West Alabama are invited to kick off the upcoming school year at the Freedom Day Back to School Bash, a free community event packed with school supplies, giveaways and resources.

The event will take place on Wednesday, July 15, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Tuscaloosa River Market, located at 1900 Jack Warner Parkway.

Organizers will give away 500 backpacks filled with school supplies while supplies last. Students must be present to receive backpacks and other resources, and college students are also encouraged to attend.

In addition to free school supplies, attendees can connect with community organizations, receive health and wellness information, and have a chance to win prizes including laptops, gas cards and grocery cards. Activities and entertainment for the entire family will also be available throughout the day.

As the event approaches, organizers are asking the community to help by donating cases of bottled water to keep families, volunteers and vendors hydrated during the bash. Anyone interested in making a donation or learning more about the event can call 205-764-0351.
