Freedom Day Back to School Bash Set for July 15 in Tuscaloosa

Families across West Alabama are invited to kick off the new school year at the Freedom Day Back to School Bash, a free community event designed to connect students with the supplies and resources they need before classes begin.

The event will take place Wednesday, July 15, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Tuscaloosa River Market, located at 1900 Jack Warner Parkway.

Organizers plan to give away 500 backpacks filled with school supplies while supplies last. Students must be present to receive backpacks and resources, and college students are also encouraged to attend.

In addition to school supplies, families can take advantage of community resources, health and wellness information, and opportunities to win prizes, including laptops, gas cards and grocery cards. The event will also feature activities and entertainment for the entire family.

As preparations continue, organizers are asking the community to help by donating cases of bottled water to keep families, volunteers and vendors hydrated throughout the event. Those interested in donating or learning more can call (205) 764-0351.
