We have had some very active weather over the past several weeks. From flooding, tornadoes, hail, damaging winds, and now we are preparing to put Spring on a slight pause.

James Spann, ABC 33/40, and Townsquare Media Tuscaloosa Chief Meteorologist said that Friday, April 8, 2022, “will be a windy, cooler day with cloudy periods and a chance of widely scattered showers over the northern third of the state. The high will be in the 56-62 degree range, and a brisk west wind of 12-25 mph will make it feel cooler.”

Weekend Outlook

Be prepared for Saturday and Sunday morning. The temperatures will be in the 30s. This means the “potential for widespread frost over the northern third of the state,” said Spann. Also, he noted that “colder pockets will see a freeze as they drop into the 26-32 degree range. Growers will need to monitor temperature forecasts and take needed precautions to protect plants and tender vegetation.”

In Alabama, the weekend should have days filled with sunshine and dry air. “The high Saturday will be around 60 degrees, followed by low to mid-70s Sunday as a warming trend begins,” said Spann.
