A long-standing partnership in Tuscaloosa is continuing to make a real impact on the next generation.

The Boys & Girls Clubs of West Alabama recently received another grant from the Exchange Club of Tuscaloosa Foundation, reinforcing a decades-long commitment to supporting local youth and families.

According to the press release, the Foundation has been investing in organizations that serve children for more than 30 years. Since 1993, it has awarded grants to over 30 local organizations, distributing a total of $567,000 annually over time.

That support has directly impacted BGCWA in a meaningful way. As of April 2, 2026, the organization has received nine grants totaling $24,814 — a steady investment in the future of West Alabama’s young people.

But for those involved, it goes far beyond the numbers.

Every day, kids walk through the doors of BGCWA carrying different experiences, challenges, and goals. The continued support helps ensure they are met with safe spaces, mentorship, and opportunities that build confidence and resilience.

“The Exchange Club of Tuscaloosa has been an incredible partner to our organization and, more importantly, to the young people we serve,” said Kim Turner, President and CEO of BGCWA, according to the press release. “Their support allows us to create the kind of environment where kids feel seen, supported, and inspired to dream about the person they want to become.”

BGCWA serves youth ages 6 to 18 through after-school and summer programs focused on academic success, healthy lifestyles, and leadership development — all made possible through continued community support.
