Have Safe Fall Fun this Weekend with These Tuscaloosa Area Events
As we adjust to new ways of doing things amid COVID-19, methods of having Halloween fun are under question.
Granted, the pandemic prohibited most from traveling during the summer months, as very little was known about the novel coronavirus. So, to err on the side of caution, staycations were put into play.
Yet, as more children are participating in virtual learning and are limited from interaction with other children, most parents don’t want to take away the fun of trick-or-treating, though going door to door at strangers’ homes is questionable at best.
Luckily, for those who don’t want to ring on doorbells, there are a number of events being held this weekend for children to pick up candy:
205 Youth Outreach Program and Big Boy ENT will host a drive through candy giveaway at Snow Hinton Park on Saturday, October 31 from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. or until the candy runs out. More information.
While in the area, feel free to drop by Bowlero where the Kristen Amerson Youth Foundation is hosting a fundraiser to Strike Out Against Suicide. Get more information here.
Child Abuse Prevention Services will host a Trunk or Treat event on Friday, October 30 for children to pick up candy in a safe and fun environment.
The St. Peter AME Zion Church is hosting a free sack lunch giveaway to the community on Saturday, October 31 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Each year, the church usually hosts a Community Outreach Block Party, but this event will be done instead. Free face masks will be given away as well. Click here for more information.
Hightown Church will host a Trunk or Treat on Saturday, October 31 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. In addition to a best decorated vehicle competition, there will also be a live DJ and food truck on location.
Bear Creek Academy will host Trunk or Treat on Thursday, October 29 from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the school. There will be fun, games, concessions, and raffles.
The Weeping Mary Missionary Baptist Church will host a Drive-Thru Treat or Treat Candy Giveaway on Saturday, October 31 beginning at 1 p.m. All participants are required to remain in their vehicles.
Calvary Family Ministry will host a Spooktacular Pumpkin Decorating from 5:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.
The Parks and Recreation Authority of Tuscaloosa County will host “Boo! In the Park” movies at Sokol Park on Friday, October 30 at 6:30 p.m.
Shouts out to Beulah Baptist Church for using its social media platforms to keep its members and the community aware of many of these events (and others). Link.
Here's to food (and candy), fun, and fellowship on the eve of All Saints Day!
