This week, Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Derek Carr handed down words of encouragement to his teammate and Alabama alumnus Henry Ruggs III.

"The way he’s running routes. He’s being violent in his cuts. I think something clicked in his head," said Carr in an interview with the Las Vegas Review-Journal. "Just like with everybody, you play a season in the NFL, you go back and watch the tape and you’re like, ‘Wow, I know what it takes now.’ And you either do it or you don’t."

While the Raiders only finished the season at 8-8 in 2021, they did manage to secure the most victories since the signing of head coach John Gruden in January of 2018. The Raiders finished their first year in Vegas with a top-ten offensive ranking in both yards and points.

First round pick Henry Ruggs' stats didn't necessarily fill the stat sheet by the end of his rookie campaign, but he did manage to secure 452 yards and two touchdowns though his 13 games of availability. Ruggs brought down 26 receptions in 2020-2021 and gained 49 yards on the ground from nine rushing attempts.

The Montgomery, AL native was the 12th overall pick by the Raiders in the 2020 NFL Draft. In college, Ruggs caught 98 passes and racked up 25 total touchdowns in his tenure of 40 games.
