The holiday spirit is taking over the Bean-Brown Theatre as Theatre Tuscaloosa rolls out a festive favorite, “Scrooge! The Musical”, running Dec. 12–21 on Shelton State’s Martin Campus.

Inspired by Charles Dickens’ legendary “A Christmas Carol,” this musical version sticks closely to the hit 1970 film “Scrooge,” complete with Academy Award-nominated songs by Leslie Bricusse. Expect the classic story you love — a cold-hearted miser learning the value of love, kindness, and community — but with big musical numbers that bring that message to life in a fresh and joyful way.

The production features a strong mix of familiar local talent and new faces taking the Theatre Tuscaloosa stage for the first time. Favorites like Donald Falls II, Lilly Grantham, and Jim Merrell return, while a large group of newcomers joins the fun — all backed by special guest All-Star Cast members George Thagard and Charles Prosser.

Director Matt Davis, who leads directing and stage management at The University of Alabama, says working on this holiday classic brings an energy you can feel:

“There’s a certain joy when you work on a holiday show, and that joy really radiates out to the audience. I’m extremely excited to share that feeling with the community.”

Managing Director Adam Miller says the show is also a chance to welcome a new group of creatives to Theatre Tuscaloosa’s growing artistic family.
