Hoo’s Q and Brew Now Open for Business in North Tuscaloosa
Tuscaloosa's newest restaurant is officially open just north of the Black Warrior River off Watermelon Road and McFarland Boulevard.
Hoo's Q and Brew, the collaborative effort of the owners and operators of Hoo's Q and the Gray Lady bar, opened to the public Monday after months of construction and pandemic- related delays.
The new restaurant is co-owned by Brad McDaniel, who has run Hoo's Q on 15th Street since 2013, and Phillip McCarthy and Dan Brislin, two owners of the Gray Lady bar on Greensboro Avenue downtown.
Their new eatery will serve the barbeque pork and chicken that has made Hoo's Q a Tuscaloosa staple as well as a new line of burgers and pub-style appetizers and entrees. The restaurant will also feature a fully stocked bar with a focus on craft beers served on draft.
Last month, the trio said they want to serve the Tuscaloosa residents who live north of the river, who don't have many local dining options and almost nowhere to go for a drink.
The restaurant is open from 11 a.m. until 10 p.m. -- the owners said they do not want Hoo's Q and Brew to become a late-night watering hole, but a family-friendly spot with regularly rotating craft beer choices and dozens of TVs on which patrons can watch whatever game is on at the time.
The bar will also offer signature cocktails including mojitos, margaritas, old fashioneds and more. Check out their full food menu below, follow the restaurant on Facebook here, and check them out today at their home at 1825 McFarland Boulevard North.
