It Feels Like Winter In Alabama, Possible Wintry Mix Soon

We are on monitoring the potential for a wintry mix soon. There is the possibility for snow, sleet, and rain starting early Monday morning. According to the National Weather Service Birmingham, they feel at this time that “the main risk of any light accumulations and impacts will be near and northwest of a line from Fayette to Jasper.” Currently, I believe the best chance for snow will be in our northwest counties.

All we can say about the weather and temperatures today is that it sure feels like winter. This weekend you can expect a cold and becoming dry weather pattern until Sunday evening – Monday overnight hours. The high for Saturday will be near 42 degrees, with the low near 26. (Ouch). Sunday not much shift in temperatures. The high will be near 47 with a low near 32 degrees.

The National Weather Service does have most of our coverage area under a hazardous weather outlook for Monday morning. This includes the following counties: Marion-Lamar-Fayette-Winston-Walker-Blount-Etowah-Calhoun-Cherokee-Cleburne-Pickens-Tuscaloosa-Jefferson-Shelby-St. Clair-Talladega-Clay-Randolph-Sumter-Greene-Hale-Perry-Bibb-Chilton-Coosa-Tallapoosa-Chambers-Marengo-Dallas-Autauga-Lowndes-Elmore-Montgomery-Macon-
Bullock-Lee-Russell-Pike-Barbour.

I am monitoring this system all this weekend into Monday. I will be giving you more weather information as it develops.
