Aaron Estrada Working Out For NBA Teams
Alabama men's basketball is in the midst of offseason training in preparation for another Final Four run after the Crimson Tide was the improbable team in last season's NCAA tournament. The Crimson Tide lost four of their last six games before the tournament before rattling off four straight wins to advance to the program's first-ever Final Four.
Alabama could not have made the run without the leadership and abilities of Aaron Estrada. Estrada transferred to Alabama from Hofstra and spent his final season of collegiate eligibility with the Crimson Tide, averaging 13.4 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 4.6 assists per game for the West Regional Champions. Estrada shot 44.9% from the field and 31.3% from three for the Crimson Tide.
He's also the only representative from the University of Alabama in this year's NBA draft. Estrada was set to be joined by Mark Sears and Jarin Stevenson, but both players removed their names from the draft and returned to Alabama, making the Crimson Tide a probable preseason No. 1 team.
NBA teams seem to be doing their research on Estrada, with Adam Zagoria reporting on June 2 Estrada has worked out with seven NBA teams so far in the draft process.
Zagoria added on Thursday that Estrada has a second workout scheduled with the Minnesota Timberwolves, and has now completed between 15 and 20 workouts for NBA teams during the draft process.
The Timberwolves are coming off of a Western Conference Finals appearance, but they lost in five games to the Dallas Mavericks.
The NBA draft is set to begin on Wednesday, June 26.
