Four-star athlete Derick Smith has committed to Alabama, per On3's Hayes Fawcett. The Selma, Ala., native chose the Crimson Tide over rivals Auburn and Georgia.

Defensive line coach Freddie Roach was Smith's primary recruiter.

Smith is listed as the No. 4 athlete in the 2025 class, according to On3.

Smith took an unofficial visit to Tuscaloosa in early February.

Smith lined up everywhere for Southside during his junior campaign, primarily taking snaps at running back and safety. Smith also saw action at quarterback and linebacker.

Smith filled up the stat sheet for Southside in 2023, racking up 2,523 yards of offense and 23 total touchdowns while recording 74 tackles and 11 sacks on defense.

Smith joins a Crimson Tide recruiting class that ranks No. 7 nationally, according to On3, and includes Anthony "Turbo" Rogers, Antonio Coleman, and Zymear Smith.

The 6-1 athlete is the highest-ranked recruit in the 2025 class thus far for the Crimson Tide.

Kalen DeBoer & Co. continue to hit the recruiting trail hard following Nick Saban's retirement in January.
