Alabama Wide Receiver Returning For Senior Season
The Alabama Crimson Tide football team is preparing to play in the 2022 Allstate Sugar Bowl against Kansas State, but simultaneously many players are determining what they will do for the 2023 season. College football players can enter the transfer portal, some can enter the NFL Draft or can choose to return to their football programs for the following season depending on eligibility.
Many Crimson Tide fans have been concerned, due to seeing 13 players enter the transfer portal so far, however the Tide appears to be bringing back some experience for the 2023 season.
Alabama will get former Georgia transfer Jermaine Burton to return to school for a senior season instead of entering the NFL Draft, according to Brett Greenberg of WKRG TV.
Burton has largely served as the No. 1 target for junior quarterback Bryce Young, however he has arguably underwhelmed in his production since his transfer from Athens.
The 6-foot receiver appeared in all 12 games for the Crimson Tide as a receiver and special teamer in 2022. He hauled in 37 receptions for 590 yards and six touchdowns during his time with the reigning Heisman Trophy winner. He finished tied for first in receptions, second in yards and touchdowns amongst receivers in the 2022 year.
Outside of his impact on the field he stole headlines during the aftermath of the Tennessee upset. Burton was seen on camera making contact with a Tennessee fan, drawing the ire of the public and causing Nick Saban to take heat in the media over his handling of the incident.
