The Crimson Tide went 1-1 last week, falling to No. 3 South Carolina 76-57 on Thursday and defeating Florida 76-71 on the road Sunday.Coach Kristy Curry's team faces a tough final week. Alabama visits No. 5 Vanderbilt on Thursday. Notably, Vanderbilt is in the top 5 for the first time since the 2001-02 season. Vanderbilt's Mikayla Blakes leads the team with 26.6 points per game and has scored 27 or more points in each of the Commodores' last six games.
While veteran Jessica Timmons leads the Crimson Tide with 16.6 points per game, the team faces tough competition. Thursday's game is expected to be competitive, with Blakes and Timmons both playing well.
For Alabama to win, they must find a way to contain Blakes, play strong defense, and score early.
After facing a challenge on Thursday, Alabama returns home to Coleman Coliseum to host No. 4 Texas on Sunday, March 1, in their final regular-season game.Following the regular season, the Crimson Tide will travel to Greenville, South Carolina, for the SEC women's basketball tournament from March 4-8.
With a 21-7 record, Alabama is set to make its 15th NCAA Tournament appearance and fourth straight under Curry. The Crimson Tide will learn their tournament seeding on the selection show on March 15.
