TUSCALOOSA, ALA. - On Monday, Shelton State Community College Athletics announced the return of Joe Eatmon as the new head coach of Shelton State men's basketball.

It's Eatmon's second tenure as the Bucs head men's basketball coach. Eatmon returns after a three-year hiatus, during which he served as the College's Dean of Community Relations.

In his previous coaching tenure with Shelton State, Eatmon boasted an 182-39 career record with an 83-14 record in Alabama Community College Conference play. He was the ACCC Coach of the Year five times, leading the Bucs to five conference championships over six seasons. They won four straight from 2019-22.

He made the NJCAA National Tournament six times in his previous tenure, with back-to-back Sweet 16 appearances in 2021 and 2022.

"I am excited to again take the reins as coach," Eatmon said in a press release. "Coaching has and always will be my passion. It's far more than winning to me; it's about seeing our students succeed, on and off the court."

"Joe is a relentless competitor and a proven winner," said Athletic Director Cara Crosslin. "It is not very often you can bring coaches back that have had his type of success at our level, so we could not be more excited to get Joe back on the court."
