Kane Wommack Provides Update on Kelby Collins’ Development
Kelby Collins was a four-star recruit in the 2023 recruiting cycle. Florida narrowly beat Alabama for the Gardendale, Alabama native in that recruiting class. Two years later, Collins is set to suit up for the Crimson Tide after transferring to Alabama in the winter.

Although Collins is certainly talented, there hasn't been as much buzz about him as other Alabama defensive linemen this fall. What's the latest on Kelby Collins' development as we are 10 days away from Alabama opening its season against Florida State?
"Yeah, Kelby's doing a nice job just continuing to work and put himself in position," Wommack said on Wednesday. "He's another one that just from a consistency piece, he's gotta continue to raise the standard day in and day out of his level of consistent execution. But he's trying, he's working, and I think he's in position, you know what I mean, to kind of fight and battle there."
In two seasons with the Florida Gators, Collins appeared in 18 games, tallying 29 total tackles, two tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, one pass breakup, and one forced fumble. The Alabama native will continue to work on cracking the Tide's depth chart this season as fall camp continues on Thursday.
