In a now-deleted post on X by Mitchell Northam of USA Today, Alabama women's basketball head coach Kristy Curry was linked to the recent job opening for the Northwestern Wildcats, with longtime head coach Joe McKeown retiring after the Wildcats' 2025-2026 season. McKeown spent 18 seasons with Northwestern, leading them to NCAA tournament appearances in 2015 and 2021, and winning the Big Ten regular season title in 2020, but the COVID-19 pandemic canceled what would have been his third NCAA tournament appearance.

Northam's now-deleted post originally linked Curry to the job opening on March 12. On Friday, a day before the Crimson Tide's round of 64 game against the Rhode Island Rams, Curry joined Gary Harris on Tide 100.9, where she was asked about her name being linked to other jobs.

"I don't even go on social media. I haven't heard from another school," Curry said on Tide 100.9. "Especially the one, I think, that's been floating around a while, so I just would never believe everything I read on Twitter, and honest to goodness, don't even run my Twitter account. Sydney Cottrell helps me run it. I'm focused on recruiting and X's and O's every day.

"I think when you do a good job, your name's always gonna be mentioned. I think Tammi Reiss (Rhode Island's women's basketball head coach) is mentioned in a lot of jobs right now, so it's just part of it. It's that time of year, but I love Alabama and love what we've built here."

Curry has been the head coach of Alabama women's basketball since 2013, winning the Kay Yow Heart Coach of the Year Award in 2014. She's led the Crimson Tide to a 244-172 overall record as the head coach, with five NCAA Women's Tournament appearances.
