LOOK: Bama Rolls Over Round 1 Opponent in Birmingham
The Alabama Crimson Tide dominated its round of 64 opponent on Thursday, defeating the Texas A&M Corpus Christi Islanders 96-75.
The Tide was able to handle its business despite superstar Brandon Miller being held scoreless in the contest.
"It shows we're deep. We've got a lotta options, a lot of talented players. You look at who's coming off our bench, Nimari Burnett's really talented. Rylan Griffen's super talented. Jaden Bradley's coming off the bench now and that's two McDonald's All Americans with Jaden and Nimari. Nick Pringle, you see what he's able to do," said Alabama head coach Nate Oats
I mean just go down the list, Dom Welch and Noah Gurley have both been really good players at different schools where they came from before they got here. To have the amount of talent you have on the bench and still have the chemistry and guys are always ready, even if they don't play heavy minutes. That speaks more to the character of the guys on the bench. It's great that in an NCAA Tournament game we're able to get these guys, look at the minutes off the bench. 21 minutes, 21 minutes, 21 minutes, 18 minutes, 19 minutes from Gurley and then 14 minutes - able to get that many minutes off the bench is nice, because we've got to turn around and play in 48 hours. So it's nice we were able to get that many minutes off the bench."
