Minnesota Vikings Honoring Passed Teammate
Earlier in July, the tragic news was announced that former Alabama and Oregon defensive back Khyree Jackson passed away in an automobile accident in his home state of Maryland. He was just 24 years old when he passed.
The Minnesota Vikings drafted Jackson in the fourth round of the 2024 NFL draft. He was set to join Alabama teammate Dallas Turner in Minnesota. The Vikings drafted Turner in the first round.
Turner and the Vikings will honor Jackson this season. Dallas Turner kept Jackson's nameplate from his locker and is keeping it above his own in the Vikings locker room.
Turner is not the only one, with the Vikings organization as a whole will honor him. Alec Lewis of The Athletic reported the Vikings will pay the rest of Jackson's signing bonus to his estate.
Additionally, the team will wear patches on the helmet with the initials "KJ" in memory of Jackson. Coaches and staff will wear pins with the same design.
Jackson spent the 2021 and 2022 seasons as a member of the Crimson Tide, where he started one game. He transferred to Oregon and started all 12 games for the Ducks en route to a First Team All-Pac-12 selection by both the coaches and the Associated Press.
