Alabama defensive coordinator Pete Golding was nominated for the Broyles Award, announced on Tuesday. This award honors the best assistant coach in college football.

Golding is one of 51 nominees for the award, selected by current college head coaches, members of the Football Writers Association of America (FWAA), broadcasters, and a college football hall-of-fame selection committee.

Other notable nominees include Baylor offensive coordinator Jeff Grimes, Georgia offensive coordinator Todd Monken, LSU defensive coordinator Matt House, Ohio State defensive coordinator Jim Knowles, Penn State defensive coordinator Manny Diaz, Tennessee offensive coordinator Alex Golesh, and UAB defensive backs coach Blake Shrader.

Golding is in his fourth year at Alabama and third as the defensive coordinator. The Crimson Tide currently ranks sixteenth in the nation in total defense, fifteenth in points allowed per game, and eleventh in sacks.

Golding's defensive unit looks to finish the regular season strong with games against Austin Peay and Auburn.
