Which Athlete Would Alabama Wide Receiver Ryan Williams Like to Meet?
Alabama wide receiver Ryan Williams joined Crimson Tide head coach Kalen DeBoer on Wednesday night for Hey Coach and the Kalen DeBoer Show. Williams has had expectations thrust upon him since receiving an offer from the Alabama Crimson Tide in the summer before his sophomore season, and has continued to meet those expectations in his career.

From scoring six touchdowns (in one game) against the Hillcrest Patriots in the AHSAA 6A State Playoffs and claiming the first state championship in Saraland Spartan history, to catching the game-winning touchdown against the Georgia Bulldogs as a freshman and becoming a stable presence for the Crimson Tide at wide receiver in his sophomore season. Williams has had insurmountable expectations for his entire career, but he continues to rise to the occasion, and Wednesday night was no different for his first time beside his head coach for the weekly radio show.
Williams was asked on Wednesday night if he had the opportunity to meet one person, dead or alive, who would it be? His answer was someone who had passed away in 2020, but his 'mamba mentality' on the court is something every athlete strives for when they hear the first whistle of play.
"I was actually wearing a Kobe Bryant jersey yesterday. I would want to pick his brain to reach into his mentality," Williams said. "We watched the video yesterday, he didn't even flinch in the moment, and that's what we try to do on a day-to-day basis, so 1,000% Kobe."
Williams has established himself as the Tide's second option at receiver this season behind veteran Germie Bernard. Williams has 36 receptions (second-most on the team) for 528 yards (also second-most on the team) and four touchdowns (third-most on the team).
