Three Tide Stars to Join DeBoer in Atlanta for Media Days
We are less than one week away from SEC Media Days in Atlanta, Georgia, signifying the official kickoff of the 2025 SEC football season. 16 head coaches, accompanied by three players per team, will make the trek to Atlanta, where the media will question them on expectations for the upcoming season.

Alabama will maintain its typical spotlight as the first team to speak on Wednesday, July 16, as Kalen DeBoer will prepare to lead the Crimson Tide in his second season after replacing Nick Saban as the Tide's head coach following Saban's retirement in January 2024. DeBoer went 9-4 in his first season as Alabama's head coach, so the questions will likely include conversations around the impending quarterback battle and how to rebound from a "failure" of a season in year one.
Last year, the SEC traveled to Dallas, Texas, to welcome Texas and Oklahoma into the conference. DeBoer was joined by eventual team captains Jalen Milroe, Tyler Booker, and Malachi Moore. This year, DeBoer elected to bring players whose positions will likely dictate if Alabama regresses to the mean or if the Tide will rise to the top of the college football world once again.
Joining Kalen DeBoer in Atlanta, Georgia, will be senior defensive lineman Tim Keenan III, junior offensive tackle Kadyn Proctor, and senior linebacker Deontae Lawson.
Keenan III is entering his fifth season in Tuscaloosa and is expected to take on a bigger role along the Tide's front four as the most veteran player in the room. A native of Birmingham, Alabama, Keenan totaled 40 tackles, 7.5 tackles for loss, and 2.5 sacks last season for the Tide.
Lawson is also entering his fifth season at Alabama after suffering a lower-body injury in November of last season. Despite the injury, Lawson was on pace for a career year as the captain of Alabama's defense and the defensive signal caller. The Mobile, Alabama, native totaled 76 tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss, two sacks, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery, and one interception last season for Alabama.
Offensive tackle Kadyn Proctor is the third member of the Tide joining DeBoer in Atlanta. Just over a year ago, Kadyn Proctor departed Tuscaloosa in favor of returning to his hometown team, the Iowa Hawkeyes, after Saban retired. Proctor then re-entered the transfer portal and came back to Alabama in the spring transfer portal window. His ascent to a team leader just over a year after his departure speaks to the maturity on his part and the respect the team has for him. Proctor is widely viewed as the top offensive tackle prospect in the 2026 NFL draft.
