The Tuscaloosa Academy Knights lost their second straight road game on Friday, October 25th, 2024, 35-21 to the Coosa Christian Academy Conquerors (Gadsen, AL).
This game began slowly, with the first points not coming until 3:57 in the first quarter when Conquerors' Junior running back Jalan Terry surged through Knights defenders to give Coosa a 7-0 lead after a successful PAT.
Tuscaloosa Academy answered with 8:30 left in the second quarter when the Knights' senior quarterback fired a dart into double coverage to TA's senior wide receiver Kena Rego, who broke a couple of tackles to reach the end zone and tie the game at seven following a successful PAT.
Coosa Christian Academy responded with less than 30 seconds left in the first half, as Conqueors' senior running back Kanson Wilson punched it in the endzone, putting Coosa ahead 14-7 at halftime following the successful PAT.
Preston Lancaster led the Knights to the goal line on their first drive of the second half, where they faced a 4th and one inside Coosa's five-yard line, where Lancaster took the direct snap for a touchdown, tying the game at 14 points with 8:57 left in the third quarter after the successful PAT.
Coosa replied swiftly with their run game, slashing through the Knights' defense, and Conquerors senior quarterback John Davis Justus plunged into the endzone, giving Coosa a 21-14 lead with 5:05 left in the third quarter.
Coosa scored again in the fourth quarter when Jalan Terry broke off a 40-yard dash to the endzone, giving the Conquoers a 28-0 lead with less than 9 minutes left.
Preston Lancaster and the Knights cut the deficit to seven points a minute later with a bomb to senior wide receiver Ellis Hamiter, which led to the Knights' senior quarterback connecting with sophomore wide receiver Matthew Atkins to make the score 28-21 with 7:49 left in the fourth quarter.
Despite the Knights' comeback efforts, the Conquerors were too powerful, with Coosa increasing the margin back to 14 points after the Knights enabled Kanson Wilson to score his second running touchdown of the game with less than two minutes remaining.
Tuscaloosa Academy was unable to recover, dropping to 7-2 on the season after their second consecutive loss this week, following a heartbreaking 46-44 overtime loss to Sulligent last Friday.
