Simpson opened the presser by praising his defense for backing up the offense early in the first quarter following Alabama’s turnover on downs on the Tide’s offense's first drive. This set the Badgers up with possession inside the Tide’s 50-yard line. Still, the next play, Alabama’s safety Bray Hubbard came away with an interception, leading to an Alabama touchdown.

“Didn't start off great, put the defense in a bad spot on that fourth down, you know, didn't get it, but just really proud of those guys, they got us the ball back the next play.” Simpson added, “Bray (Hubbard) did a good job, and you know I just thought we executed on many levels today.”

Simpson has dominated the past two weeks, recording 608 passing yards and seven touchdowns while leading the Tide to two victories. In Saturday's win, Simpson threw for 382 yards and four touchdowns. In the Tide's last two games, they have outscored their opponents 111-14. Simpson was asked about his performance in Alabama’s past two games.

“You can say that I just thought that the team played really well the last two weeks.” Simpson said “I think that our first week we kind of had to self-reflect and we were like hey what are we gonna do now and I thought that we've been really really intentional these past couple of weeks at practice and now we just gotta keep it going you know we got a tough couple game stretch coming up and you know we gotta be more intentional than we ever have been.”

Simpson made it evident that his success these past two weeks has been solely due to his teammates' making plays and being in the right place at the right time, with the first-year starter responding to a question about where the game has slowed down for him.

“I just thought that the guys made really good plays today. Honestly, you know, I thought the line blocked well. I can't take a sack there backed up. I thought the guys ran hard at running back. I thought the tight ends, you know, did both, and wide out, you know, they make great catches and ran really, really fast, so you know I just did my job, and just like I said, great complementary football.”

Simpson was asked about the importance of the team getting senior running back Jam Miller back in the lineup and healthy. Miller suffered a dislocated collarbone in practice the week before the Tide’s season opener against Florida State.

“It’s gonna be huge, you know that guy is a really, really big part of the team.” Simpson said, “He works really hard, he’s a leader, he's very vocal, and I know he’s itching to be able to come back.”

Alabama will improve to 2-1 on the season. The Tide will have next week off with a Bye, but will be back in action on September 27th in Athens, Georgia, to take on the Bulldogs in the Tide’s first game in SEC play.
