Missouri has the No. 2 total defense in the country, allowing just 203.8 yards per game and 4.04 yards per play. In terms of scoring defense, the Tigers rank No. 16 in the country, allowing just 14.6 points per game. Missouri also has the No. 3 third-down defense in the country (behind only Oklahoma and Ohio State), allowing a conversion on just 21.7% of third downs.  The Tigers have the No. 1 run defense in the country, allowing just 312 rushing yards in five games, an average of 62.4 rush yards per game. In defensive passing efficiency, Missouri is 12th in the country with a defensive pass efficiency of 103.13.

The Tigers' redzone defense is the one area defensively where Missouri has some work to do, ranking No. 96 in the country, allowing 90% of redzone possessions to result in scores.

On Tuesday, during player availability, Simpson broke down the Missouri Tiger defense and some players to keep an eye on for the Crimson Tide to have success on offense.

"Missouri's got a great front," Simpson said on Tuesday. "Great from seven. Their DBs are really physical, really tough to get behind, and you just never know what's gonna happen. They bring edge pressure, bring twist game, one coverage looks like another, it's gonna be difficult to ask. We need to study up and understand that this is a good team, they're 5-0 for a reason, and playing at 11 o'clock is gonna be hard.

"Number nine, Zion Young, is really, really good," Simpson continued. "Eight, Damon Wilson, is really, really good. Those are two edge guys that are very long, very physical, very fast. They'll cause problems in the run game and the pass game. Number two, Toriano Pride, is a good player at DB, and their nickel, number 13, is very, very physical, can cover, can fit the box. They're just all around a good defense, man. Very impressed with what they've done."
