The High School football regular season came to a close in West Alabama, but several area teams qualified for the AHSAA playoffs which start next Friday. Here's a look at this week's final regular season scoreboard:

In private school playoff action, Russell Christian beat Tuscaloosa Christian in Cottondale 30-22 in a heartbreaker. The Warriors had an outstanding season and after the game quarterback Luke Jones and linebacker Jaeden Yeager were named the state's top offensive and defensive players. Hats off!

Tuscaloosa Academy remained on a roll with a bench-clearing, clock-running 39-16 win at Holt. The Knights host Red Bay next week.

Tuscaloosa County ended its season 5-5 with a home win over Brookwood 4214.

Sipsey Valley handled Northside at home 49-14 to prepare for a playoff run.

Demopolis, coached by former Fayette and Alabama quarterback Lance Tucker, beat Paul Bryant at home 43-21 as the Tigers readied for the postseason.

South Lamar shut out Brilliant 56-0.

Fayetteville blanked Holy Spirit 47-0.

Fayette County prepared for the playoffs with a big win over Hamilton 51-33.

Southern Academy got a playoff win at home over South Choctaw 36-22.

Northridge traveled to Bayou LaBatre for a 21-18 win at Alma Bryant.

Two Pickens County teams won Thursday night and will get an extra day of rest prior to the postseason.

Gordo crushed Hale County58-26 behind Ethan Wilder's three scores.

Pickens County topped Marion County 34-15.

Tuscaloosa County Wildcats vs. Paul W. Bryant Stampede

The Tuscaloosa County Wildcats defeated the Paul W. Bryant Stampede 59-34 in the opening game of the 2021 season for both schools. For the Wildcats it was the debut of new coach Adam Winegarden.
