Where is Bryce Young?
Where Is Bryce?
The most exciting time of year is finally here. Entering week three of the 2024 NFL preseason, the Carolina Panthers have faced some challenges. Carolina has lost the two preseason games played so far, the first loss coming from the New England Patriots in week one with a score of 17 to 3, while the second loss to the Jets in week two was a closer game ending 15 to 12.
Week three starts with a Panthers and Bills game set for Saturday, August 24, at noon.
Bryce Young and other starters may see play time Saturday against the Bills. When reporters asked Head Coach Dave Canales why we weren't seeing starters, he stated, "The health of the whole unit" was a big factor in why we haven't seen many starters play in the preseason.
Falling Short
Bryce Young did not have the ideal starting season after being drafted No. 1 overall in the 2023 NFL draft as the Panthers ended with a disappointing record of 2 wins and 15 losses.
According to ncaa.com, Young finished his college career with 8,356 passing yards in 36 games, 80 passing touchdowns, and an additional seven rushing touchdowns.
According to espn.com, Bryce Young threw for 2,877 yards, 11 pass touchdowns, and ten interceptions during his rookie year with the Carolina Panthers.
From Alabama to Carolina
Bryce Young isn't the only former Crimson Tide player on the Carolina Panthers roster. Defensive Tackle A'Shawn Robinson and defensive end LaBryan Ray, are both former Alabama Players for now-retired head coach Nick Saban.
A'Shawn Robinson, the veteran of the trio has played eight seasons in the NFL starting in 2016 with the Detroit Lions. Robinson played four seasons with the Lions before being traded to the Los Angeles Rams in 2020.
Robinson stayed with the Rams for three seasons until he was traded to the New York Giants where he finished the 2023 season with 34 solo tackles.
So far in Robinson's career, according to nfl.com, the veteran defensive tackle has 182 solo tackles with 140 assisted tackles and 7 sacks.
LaBryan Ray is another former Crimson Tide player under now-retired Head Coach Nick Saban. Ray started his career as an undrafted free agent on May 9, 2022, with the New England Patriots. Ray, a native of Madison, AL was a member of the 2017 and 2020 national championship teams. He finished his first season with the Panthers getting six solo tackles and 12 assisted tackles.
