Alabama: Back To School; Can We Trust Our Bus Drivers?

School is coming back any minute now, and parents have plenty on their plates.

We don't plan for the worst when we send our kids off to school on that bus.

Can we trust school bus drivers?  As this video shows us, apparently not.

I love our bus drivers and I do not believe they get enough money and/or credit for their work.

Yet, this is hard to understand.

It’s a scary thought that our children are not safe on a school bus.  I understand as humans, getting annoyed behind the wheel is normal. Yet, I think bus drivers should be held to a higher standard.

If patience is not one of your virtues, you should pick a different career.  It’s not just you and you alone in a vehicle, you have the lives of children in your hands. The decisions you make affect them too.

Watching that video makes my heart sink.

How can anyone do that on purpose? Is that the correct way to teach children to sit in their seats…I don’t think so.

Brake checking should not be done when you are alone in your car and definitely not with a busload of children. That’s common sense.  See the video below.

Yet, it’s not just the bus drivers we have to be concerned about. There are adults employed by our schools who need a cup of common sense, and it’s all caught on camera. Right here, in Alabama, an assistant principal struck a child!

Our roads are dangerous enough, we shouldn’t have to be on pins and needles when our children step foot on a school bus.

You would think that in today's world, what you do or say most definitely will be caught on camera, whether on a surveillance system or cell phone.
