Speeding plays a major role in danger on the road in Alabama. In 2023 speeding factored into one-third of all fatal traffic crashes in the state, according to southernmedlaw1,604 people died in related crashes, a 13% increase from 2019. Operation Southern Slow Down cracks down in Georgia, Alabama, Florida, South Carolina, & Tennessee.

The post also stated that “ALEA Troopers will be out in full force across the state, reminding drivers that fast isn’t worth the risk. Whether you’re heading out for work or summer travel, slow down, stay alert, and drive responsibly.

Speeding remains a top contributor to fatal crashes; about one-fifth to one-third of all traffic deaths in Alabama involve speedingWith that being said, law enforcement has taken it into their own hands and decided to make an attempt at slowing down any drivers speeding down the highways. For the week of July 14th to July 20th enforcement aims to reduce crashes and save lives by targeting speeding and aggressive driving on highways.

If you have ever seen any drivers fly past you on the highway then you know that it’s very dangerous and can result in a compound of issues where multiple drivers end up injured or worse. ALEA is just making an attempt and keeping our highways safer.
