There is potential for strong to severe storms across portions of Alabama. The Townsquare Media Weather Center is monitoring a cold front, which is expected to move across portions of Alabama soon.

Timeline

Currently, the timing of the cold front moving across portions of northern Central Alabama is on Tuesday. James Spann, ABC 33/40, and Townsquare Media Tuscaloosa Chief Meteorologist, said the “main chance of showers and storms Tuesday will come from about 3:00 p.m. until midnight.”

According to the Storm Prediction Center, a portion of Alabama is under a “slight risk” of severe thunderstorms. Then, the remainder of the state is under a “marginal risk.”

The National Weather Service in Birmingham said the potential threats for this active weather system would come from damaging winds up to 60 mph and quarter-sized hail.

“The core tornado threat will be north of Alabama, where better dynamic support and shear will be in place,” said Spann.
