Monday morning at 9:15am, an Alabama university made the public aware of a very serious situation on campus.

"Please avoid the area until further information is available," was posted by Alabama A&M University Monday morning as they alerted the public of an emergency situation near a campus building.

 

 

 

After a little of an hour, the institution stated that emergency officials declared an "an all-clear for the campus."

 

 

At around 1p the University's president Dr. Daniel K. Wims provided a more detailed update on Monday's emergency situation.

 

"This morning, an unfortunate incident occurred near the Alabama A&M University Child Development Center (CDC), resulting in the tragic loss of life of an individual who was not employed by or enrolled at Alabama A&M University," said Dr. Wims in the statement posted to social media.

"Out of respect for the family's privacy, no additional details will be shared."

 

Dr. Wims also encouraged anyone in need of support to reach out to the office of student affairs for counseling and services related to counseling.

 

"As a campus community, let us continue to care for one another and remain - as always - Bulldog Strong as we Protect the Hill."
