Empty Bowls Fundraiser Assists a Tuscaloosa’s Food Pantry
An event that raises hunger awareness in our community, the 16th Annual Empty Bowls, will be held in the Grace Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall. The event will be held on Wednesday, March 20, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The church is located at 113 Hargrove Road in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.
“Eat the Soup. Keep the Bowl.”
According to the press release, “For a suggested donation of $15, attendees will enjoy live entertainment, pick out a hand-crafted bowl created by local artisans and UA ceramics students, and receive a meal of soup, bread, and water. For an additional $5, attendees may take one bowl of soup “to go.”
“Table of Grace is the first and only client-choice market-style food pantry in West Alabama.”
The event's proceeds support Table of Grace, a compassionate market-style food pantry serving almost 2,000 community members monthly.
Table of Grace represents the heartfelt expansion of the previous Loaves & Fishes food pantry, now housed in a new building and transformed into a market-style pantry. Here, neighbors can personally select the food items they need, aiming to provide sustenance and uphold their dignity throughout the process.
“Since opening Table of Grace in October 2023, the pantry has distributed over 66,000 pounds of food to community families.”
How to Participate
Tickets will be available at the door for a recommended $15 donation, which can be paid by cash, check, or mobile payment. For those who can’t attend the event, donations can also be made at gracetuscaloosa.org/tog.
