The Back Forty Farm Fest celebrates and recognizes the impact of local farmers. The event will take place this Saturday, September 27, from 5 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at the Old Zion Schoolhouse, located at 3370 Zion Road in Gordo.

According to the Back Forty Farm Fest Facebook post, Admission to the fest is free, and they encourage attendees to “bring your lawn chairs and blankets for a harvest celebration. Tractors, funnel cakes, pretzels, farmers market, live music, and more.”

The vision for the farm festival was born from the heart of Zion community resident Tim McCool, whose inspiration comes from his father, a dedicated farmer who worked the land for 70 years.

McCool said, “To celebrate farmers is to celebrate America. And there's no better place to celebrate American farmers than out in the country on the back forty.”

The celebration includes a farmers market, tractors, food trucks, activities, and live music. Artist Isaiah Moore from American Idol Season 23 will perform along with Andy Gray and 82 West, plus the reunion of the Tim McCool band after 26 years.

In honor of the devoted farmers whose hands and hearts sustain our communities, the festival will pay tribute to their dedication with a special recognition, highlighted by the hardest-working farmer award.
